Chennai-born beauty Keerthy Suresh managed to bag solid critical acclaim and fantastic commercial reception for her brilliant portrayal as Savitri in the yesteryear heroine’s biopic titled Mahanati. The Nag Ashwin directorial also fetched her, the Best Actress trophy at the recently announced 66th National Film awards. Besides playing the titular role in the female-centric project Miss India, the 27-year-old actress has recently kicked-off Rang De with Nithiin.

Post the phenomenal success of Mahanati, Keerthy Suresh’s career has been on a roller-coaster ride. Recently, she signed her maiden Bollywood project Maidaan opposite Ajay Devgn. The biographical film is an inspiring sports-drama based on the life of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Besides the above, she is playing the leading lady in Nagesh Kukunoor’s forthcoming film and the first look has been unveiled a few hours ago on the occasion of Keethy’s 27th birthday. Not many know that Keerthy Suresh hails from a film family. She is born to Malayalam filmmaker Suresh Kumar and Tamil actress Menaka in Chennai. After wrapping up her high-school education in Thiruvananthapuram, the leggy lass pursued her graduation in fashion designing and also underwent a two-month internship in London. Despite being a highly successful actress, Keerthy admits that she wants to seriously consider a career in fashion designing.

After working as a child actress in three Malayalam films and a few TV serials, Keerthy Suresh took a gap and returned to the silver screen exactly 13 years later. She made her leading lady debut in Priyadarshan's horror film Geethaanjali and surprisingly, played a dual role in her first outing itself. After garnering favourable reviews for her performance, Keerthy portrayed the role of a blind girl in Ring Master starring Dileep as the protagonist. The film turned out to be a commercial success and the cute diva decided to test her fate in other South industries from then on.

In 2015, Keerthy Suresh made her Kollywood debut with AL Vijay’s Idhu Enna Maayam. Starring Vikram Prabhu and Navdeep in lead roles, the romantic comedy fell flat at the ticket counters much to the disappointment of the debutante. However, her next film Rajinimurugan opposite Sivakarthikeyan emerged as the blockbuster of 2015 with a worldwide gross of over Rs 50 crore. It is considered as a cult comedy in Tamil cinema. In 2016, the gorgeous belle stepped foot into Telugu cinema with the superhit film Nenu Sailaja and scored consecutive success with Nani’s Nenu Local.

It was Nag Ashwin’s Mahanati that turned the tables for Keerthy Suresh in Indian cinema. Besides garnering critical acclaim and commercial reception, her impeccable performance as Savitri in the yesteryear heroine’s biopic fetched her, the Best Actress Award at the recently announced 66th National Film awards.
