Prashanth Varma's superhero epic 'Hanu Man' draws inspiration from Rajamouli's blockbuster 'RRR' captures viewers internationally

Prashanth Varma's 'Hanu Man' created a spectacular impact in the world of cinema in the new year 2024. The film, starring Teja Sajja, an energetic actor from Telugu, is not only the year's first blockbuster smash but is also making headway towards crossing the Rs 250 crore milestone internationally. This success is especially amazing for Varma, who thought his picture would only be a small Telugu movie and had no idea how big of an influence it would end up having.

The origin of 'Hanu Man' comes from Varma's enduring desire to make a superhero movie. Once, he suffered from a lack of funds, but the 2021 success of his earlier project, 'Zombie Reddy,' cleared the path. Varma had been hinting at his intention to create a superhero story with a strong foundation in Indian itihaas (history) in his previous works. His goal was to create a run of Indian history-inspired superhero films.

In an interview with Indian Express, Varma discussed 'Hanu Man' phenomenal box office performance. He talked about how the massive success of SS Rajamouli's 2022 smash film 'RRR' served as inspiration for him and talked about his next project, 'Jai Hanuman,' which is a sequel to his latest venture 'Hanu Man' and is an expansion of his cinematic universe.

Speaking about the visual effects in the movie, Varma focused on a scene in the trailer where Teja Sajja is seen next to a cheetah, which is similar to Jr. NTR's tiger race scene in 'RRR'. Varma explains that there was a noticeable similarity, even if it wasn't a direct inspiration from 'RRR.' Nevertheless, despite spending a lot of time and energy on it, this scene was eventually cut from the finished movie because of the poor visual effects. Varma intends to re-release 'Hanu Man' with enhanced visual effects in an effort to get worldwide praise such as that of 'RRR.'

In addition, Varma conveyed his enthusiasm for 'Kantara,' which was directed by Rishab Shetty and went on to become a huge hit with its theme of belief.
