Sr NTR was born on this day in 1923 in Nimmakuru, Gudivada, Andhra Pradesh to a traditional Hindu family. His parents Nandamuri Lakshmayya Chowdary and Nandamuri Venkata Ramamma were farmers. NTR worked as a sub-registrar at Prathipadu of Guntur District for only three weeks and left his well-paid job to pursue his passion for acting. He made his debut in the 1949 film Mana Desam, in which he essayed a cop, and he never looked back. The heartthrob of united Andhra Pradesh

Sr NTR was the heartthrob of united Andhra Pradesh, both as a leader and a leading actor. He used his popularity to make TDP a successful political party that would go on to achieve sweeping victories over many elections. In 1983, the TDP won state Assembly elections for the first time, and NTR was sworn in as the first non-Congress Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. NTR was the biggest name in the Telugu film industry right until he died in 1996.
