​SS Rajamouli, LV Prasad and others; meet 5 Telugu directors who proved their mettle in Kollywood as well

Lately, we have been watching that more and more Tamil cinema directors are making their Tollywood debuts with happening Telugu stars, such as Lingusamy making a film with Ram Pothineni through ‘The Warrior’, Shankar Shanmugam is making a movie with Ramcharan. Moreover, yesterday Venkat Prabhu also announced his next film to be with Naga Chaitanya. Let's meet a few Telugu directors who ventured into Kollywood and other film Industries either through dubbing films or through straight ones and taste success.

​LV Prasad

Though there are few other stalwarts of his time, director LV Prasad went on to become super successful in both Telugu and Tamil film industries, not just that he also improved south Indian filmmaking technology by installing various filmmaking amenities throughout the country. His Tamil films such as Poongothai (1953), Missiamma (1955), Kadan Vaangi Kalyanam (1958), and Raja Paarvai (1981) just to name a few have given several superhits in the first generation of Tamil cinema.

​Singeetham Srinivasa Rao

Though there were few other older directors in Telugu cinema, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao went on to become very successful in the language he worked in. He made films in all south Indian languages in addition to Hindi cinema and has experimented majority of filmmaking techniques and genres through his films such as ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’(silent film), ‘Apoorva Sahodarulu’ (Dwarfism), Mayuri (Telugu film) just to name a few, he has won several awards and accolades for the filmmaking genius he is.

​Kodi Ramakrishna

Telugu director Kodi Rama Krishna who used to make superhit mythological fantasy films in Telugu and dub them into Tamil were declared blockbusters upon their release. Especially his films Ammoru’, ‘Anukusham’, ‘Devi’ and ‘Devi Putrudu’ were reportedly blockbuster hits in Tamil Nadu.

​SS.Rajamouli

SS.Rajamouli’s Pan South Journey started with ‘Eega’, a fantasy film that was dubbed into Tamil as ‘NaanEe’ which went on to become a blockbuster success in Tamil Nadu, from then every film of him such as ‘Baahublai’, ‘Baahubli 2: The conclusion’ and now ‘RRR’ went on to become a blockbuster success at the Tamil Nadu box-office.

​Sudha Kongara

Vijayawada born Sudha Kongara made her directional debut with ‘Mitr, My Friend’, later in 2008 she made ‘Andhra Andagadu’ and ventured into Tamil cinema in 2010, from then she has been delivering back to back superhits in Tamil cinema, Recently she has made an anthology film for Netflix titled ‘Paava Kadhaigal’ before that she made ‘Soorarai Potru’ a biographical drama with Tamil actor Suriya for Amazon Prime which went to receive several accolades and awards including SIIMA Best director award for her filmmaking skills. Still there are several other directors such as K.Viswananth, Krissh Jagarlamudi who made films in other Indian languages and scored success...!
