The Divorce Saga of Tollywood’s Film Family: Divorces from the Mega Compound so far!

These days, divorce seems to be fairly popular in both American and Indian families and particularly in the hottest segment of the entertainment industry, Tollywood. There have been at least five divorces in the illustrious Akkineni family of Tollywood so far. The list of those who are either legally divorced or estranged from the Chiranjeevi family is presented below.

​Chiranjeevi’s second daughter, Sreeja

Chiranjeevi’s younger daughter and Tollywood Megastar is Sreeja Konidela. She was first married to Sirish Bharadwaj in 2007. It was a love marriage against her parent's wishes, and she had a daughter named Nivrathi from her first marriage too. However, the couple who went against all odds later got divorced, with Sreeja getting custody of her daughter and giving birth to her second daughter, Navishka, with a businessman named Kalyan Dhev. There are also several reports about her second marriage, as all is not well between them.

Pawan Kalyan's divorce from Nandini (First Marriage)

Pawan Kalyan first married Nandini in 1997 in an arranged marriage. It was one year after his film debut. Later, he started to be in a live-in relationship with his co-star Renu Desai and gave birth to their son, Akira Nandan, in 2004. In June 2007, his first wife, Nandini, filed a bigamy case against the star actor, alleging that he remarried without divorcing her.

However, Kalyan responded by stating that he didn’t marry Desai legally, and the Vizag court cleared the case due to a lack of evidence.

Later, he filed for divorce with his first wife in a family court, claiming that his first wife deserted him immediately after their first marriage. In 2008, he paid alimony of Rs 5 crore as a one-time settlement and formalised his divorce from Nandini.

​Pawan Kalyan divorced Renu Desai (Second Marriage).

In 2009, he married Desai after eight years of live-in companionship. They had their second child, Aadya, born in 2010. However, the couple parted ways in 2012 with a formal divorce. Pawan Kalyan later married Anna Lezhneva, a Russian citizen, during the shooting of his 2011 film ‘Teen Maar" They married in September 2013 under the special marriage act at a sub- registrar's office in Hyderabad. The couple has a daughter, Polena Anjana Pawanova, and a son, Mark Shankar Pawanovich.

Naga Babu’s Daughter: Niharika Konidela with Chaitanya Jonnalagadda

Naga Babu’s daughter, Niharika Konidela, is the niece of actors Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan. She is a sister to actor Varun Tej and a cousin to actors Sai Dharam Tej, Vaisshnav Tej, and Allu Arjun.

She married Chaitanya Jonnalagadda on December 9, 2020, in an arranged marriage at the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur, Rajasthan. However, The couple announced their divorce on July 5, 2023. In 2015, she launched her own production company called ‘Pink Elephant Pictures’.

​Chiranjeevi’s sister, Sai Dharam Tej, and Vaisshav Tej’s parents

Sai Dharam Tej and Vaisshnav Tej are brothers born to Chiranjeevi’s younger sister, Vijaya Durga. Tollywood actors Allu Arjun, Ram Charan, Varun Tej, and Allu Sirish are their cousins. Pawan Kalyan and Naga Babu are their maternal uncles.

In one of his Interviews with a local media channel, Sai Dharam Tej reportedly revealed that their parents got divorced 15 years ago, but they’ve maintained it in a dignified manner. It was her mother who took care of their children and raised them all by herself. However, she reportedly got married to a doctor later.
