The designation and role of Ambani family members in the Reliance companies

Mukesh Ambani is the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), a Fortune 500 company that was established in 1958 and includes energy, petrochemicals, natural gas, retail, telecommunications, mass media, entertainment, and textile businesses. RIL is one of the largest private-sector corporations in India. According to Forbes, as of March 2024, Mukesh Ambani is the richest person in Asia and is the 11th richest in the world.

Nita Ambani is the founder of Reliance Foundation and Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Reliance Foundation was established in 2010 and is working in the areas of rural transformation, health, education, sports, disaster response, arts, culture, heritage and urban renewal. Nita is also the Director of Reliance Industries Limited.

The only daughter of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Isha Ambani is on the Board of Directors of Reliance Industries Limited. Isha, who is married to Anand Piramal, oversees retail and financial services. She joined the Board of Reliance in 2023. She is also a part of the Reliance Foundation, Reliance Foundation Institution of Education and Research, and Dhirubhai Ambani International School. Isha Ambani is a graduate of Yale University and holds a double major in Psychology and South Asian Studies along with an MBA from Stanford University.

The elder son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani, Akash Ambani is a non-executive Director on the Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited board since October 2014. He is the Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited since 2022. An Economics graduate from Brown University, USA, and is also a member of the President’s Leadership Council of Brown University.

The youngest child of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, who is in news recently for his marriage to Radhika Merchant and for his new venture for rescued animals- ‘Vantara’, Anant Ambani is in the energy business. A graduate from Brown University, USA Anant is the Director on the Boards of Jio Platforms Limited since March 2020, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited since May 2022 and Reliance New Energy Limited and Reliance New Solar Energy Limited since June 2021. He is also a part of the Reliance Foundation.

Anil Ambani is the Chairman of the Reliance Group or the Reliance ADA group which includes Reliance Communications, Reliance Capital, Reliance Infrastructure, Reliance Power, Reliance Defence and Engineering Limited, Reliance Defence Limited and Reliance Defence Technologies Private Limited.

Jai Anmol Ambani, son of Anil Ambani, started his career with internship at Reliance Mutual Fund at the age of 18. He joined the company in 2014. Three years later, in September 2017, Jai Anmol was appointed Executive Director of Reliance Capital and the next year he was appointed director of Reliance Infra in October 2019.
