FTII Students' strike ends after 139 days
The Film and Television Institute (FTII) students went on strike on June 12th, 2015. The students were agitated and were on an indefinite strike to protest against the appointment of actor Gajendra Chauhan as the Chairman of the new Governing Council, the body responsible for making all policy decisions of the institute by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The position was vacant since Director Saeed Mirza's term ended in 2014. Students at the Pune-based institute said that they will rejoin regular classes starting 28th October, 2015; but will continue their opposition to the appointments of Gajendra Chouhan and four other officials.
