BJP-led govt's first year in Assam: PM Modi to address public rally in Guwahati on May 26
GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the NDA government, after a public rally in Guwahati on May 26.Modi was earlier scheduled to visit the state on May 24 to mark the first year of the BJP-led government in Assam.“The PMO has confirmed that he will visit the state on May 26 and address the nation after attending a public rally at the Khanapara ground here,” chief minister’s media advisor Hrishikesh Goswami told TOI.On the same day, Modi will inaugurate the Dhola-Sadiya bridge on the Brahmaputra, the country’s longest bridge, in upper Assam which would make induction of Indian troops in the easternmost corner of Arunachal Pradesh much easier and quicker.Besides laying the foundation stone of an agriculture research centre at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district, Modi will also lay the foundation of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on the same day at Changsari in Kamrup (Rural) district, on the outskirts of Guwahati.Goswami said, the state cabinet on Monday reviewed the preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit here.
