Coronavirus: Maharashtra sees 6,479 new Covid cases, over 20k in Kerala

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said on Friday there will be no nationwide mandate for Americans to get a Covid-19 vaccine, clarifying comments she made earlier during a televised interview. "To clarify: There will be no nationwide mandate. I was referring to mandates by private institutions and portions of the federal government," Walensky wrote in a Twitter post. "There will be no federal mandate."

The government on Friday informed Parliament that 292 children have been registered by states and Union territories till July 29 on the portal, created under PM Cares, for the scheme meant to provide support to children who have lost their parents, surviving parent, adoptive parent or legal guardian due to Covid-19. It also informed the House that 87 children living in childcare institutions have been affected by Covid-19, as per data collected till July 23.

Fresh cases that were declining across Tamil Nadu for more than two months have started to rise marginally over the last two days. They rose by 100 cases to 1,859 on Thursday. On Friday, the state reported 1,947 new cases.
