Coronavirus: Many politicians self-isolate amid fears over Kanika's infection
Coronavirus has infected more than 2,45,000 people and killed more than 10,000 across the world. Meanwhile, India has reported four deaths and 223 cases so far. Meghalaya announces 24-hour shutdown on Saturday, CM says it's 'coronavirus awareness day'
Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma announced a 24-hour statewide shutdown from Saturday midnight and said it will be observed as 'coronavirus awareness day'. Speaking to reporters after chairing a Cabinet meeting on Friday, he said all public transport, commercial establishments and markets will remain shut to create awareness about the pandemic among the people of the state. It is not to be taken as a "lockdown", he urged.

Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor on Friday announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19, setting off a chain reaction with political leaders like Vasundhara Raje, her MP son Dushyant Singh and parliamentarians Derek O'Brien and Anupriya Patel, who came in contact with her directly or indirectly, going into self-quarantine as a precautionary measure.

Coronavirus death toll in England rises to 167
A further 39 people have died in England after testing positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths in the country to 167, the National Health Service said on Friday.

2 Kolkata women, who disregarded home quarantine advice, taken to hospital by police
Two women, who recently returned to Kolkata from abroad, were taken to the hospital by police on Friday after they disregarded the advice of home quarantine and were found to be strolling near their apartment, officials said. The women, residents of a housing complex in the Ballygunge area, have been sent to the Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital's quarantine unit in Rajarhat, they said.
