Serum Institute expects approval for AstraZeneca vaccine in days

Serum Institute of India, the local maker of the Oxford/AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine, said on Monday it expected the government to approve the shot for emergency use in a few days. Serum Chief Executive Adar Poonawalla also told reporters that the company had already made 40 million to 50 million doses of the vaccine.

"These patients were more likely to have altered mental status, lower percent oxygen saturation, septic shock and to be admitted to the intensive care unit compared to those without bloodstream infections," said study co-lead author Pinki Bhatt from Rutgers University.

China to make Covid-19 vaccine similar to Oxford-AstraZeneca's: Report

China's Walvax Biotechnology Co has started work on a plant to manufacture an early-stage coronavirus vaccine candidate similar to AstraZeneca PLC's product, state-backed media said on Sunday. Mass production for the proposed vaccine could begin in mid-2021, with an estimated capacity of 200 million doses a year, said Health Times, a paper run by the People's Daily.

Daily recoveries outnumbered daily new cases for more than a month now, says health ministry

Total recoveries are nearing 98 lakhs (97,82,669). Recovery rate has also increased to 95.83%. Gap between recoveries and active cases is consistently widening and has crossed 95 lakh today, the ministry said.
