Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs Rohit Mehraulia from Trilokpuri, Madan Lal from Kasturba Nagar, Rajesh Rishi from Janakpuri, and Bhavna Gaur from Palam have resigned from the party. The resignation came after the party decided not to give them tickets for the upcoming elections. The decision not to field these four MLAs in the elections appears to have prompted them to step down from their positions, signaling a potential shift in their political affiliations or intentions moving forward.
Meanwhile, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal in a letter to the Election Commission on Friday, demanded a criminal case against Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini in connection with the 'poisonous' Yamuna water issue.
Kejriwal claimed that ammonia levels in the raw water supplied to Delhi from Haryana had risen to 'unprecedented and dangerously high' levels. He outlined how ammonia levels sharply increased from 3.2 ppm on 15th January to 7 ppm shortly thereafter. Despite several efforts from Delhi chief minister Atishi to resolve the issue, including direct calls to Haryana's chief minister, the problem remained unresolved, Kejriwal claimed.
In his letter, Kejriwal accused Haryana's chief minister, of deliberately orchestrating a conspiracy to influence the Delhi elections. He alleged that the high levels of ammonia were intended to create an artificial water scarcity in Delhi, which would have caused hardship for nearly 10 million people.
Kejriwal also expressed concerns over the Election Commission’s handling of the matter, accusing it of bias for not acting against Haryana's chief minister and instead targeting him. He criticised the Commission for not ordering Haryana to stop polluting Delhi's water before the elections and for focusing on him instead.

EC writes to Delhi CEO, emphasises steps for free and fair assembly polls
With Delhi polls scheduled for Wednesday, Election Commission has emphasised to Chief Electoral Officer Delhi that a close tracking should be made by all the enforcement agencies for tracking all forms of misuse of money power and inducement to voter and no party shall indulge in any activity which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities.
In a letter sent by the Election Commission on Saturday, its secretary BC Patra laid emphasis on a series of measures to ensure free and fair elections. It referred to the meeting held on Saturday with concerned officials and laid out points for special focus.

Underwhelming budget; focuses on Delhi, Bihar voters, lacks vision: Tharoor
Describing the Union Budget as "underwhelming", Congress leader Shashi Tharoor slammed the BJP-led Centre on Saturday for its "short-term thinking" in targeting the voters of Delhi and Bihar, and asserted that a far more visionary approach was needed to take the country out of the morass into which it might be sinking. In an interview to PTI at the news agency's headquarters here, Tharoor said he did not even hear the words "unemployment" and "inflation" from Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during her budget speech.
Referring to the announcement that individuals earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually will not have to pay any income tax under the new tax regime, Tharoor said it would benefit the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that the "freebies" for Bihar would also get it votes, but slammed the approach as "short-term thinking".
"The fact is that if you have a job and you are earning Rs 12 lakh or less, you have reasons to be happy. If you do not have a job, it is not clear from this budget where the job is going to come from. If you are living in Bihar and you are from an ally (of the BJP) party, no doubt you get the sops that will help you with the elections, which is a very curious message this government has sent," Tharoor told PTI.
"Middle-class tax cut for the Delhi voters and lots of freebies for Bihar. But this is the same party that talks of 'one nation, one election'. I am sure that the people of Andhra Pradesh are thinking, 'if we also had an election at this time, we would have gotten lots of freebies too'," he said.

Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday responded to AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal's allegations against the Haryana government regarding the water of the Yamuna River and said that the AAP supremo should be held 'legally' liable for his statement.
Manohar Lal said that the Haryana government has filed a complaint in the Sonipat court and added that the Election Commission will also take appropriate action in response to the remarks from Kejriwal.

'Disappointed that billionaire loan waiver proposal ignored in Budget,' says Arvind Kejriwal
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday said he was disappointed that his suggestion to end loan waiver for billionaires and spend the saved money on the middle class and farmers was not met in the Union budget 2025-26. Kejriwal in a post on X said a large portion of the public exchequer is spent on these waivers.
"I am disappointed this was not done," he said in the post.
Presenting her eighth straight Budget in the Lok Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman laid out a blueprint for "next-generation" reforms, including raising the FDI limit in the insurance sector and simplification of tax laws.

Interacting with Delhi voters, Anurag Thakur said: "Arvind Kejriwal has given AAP leaders a free hand to loot Delhi. This is why corruption has reached its peak under the AAP government."

Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday claimed that several infrastructure projects including roads, expressways, and transit corridors have been strengthened here at a cost of Rs 68,000 crore under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing an election rally in Moti Nagar vidhan sabha, Dhami said that party candidate Harish Khurana and his family have been serving Delhi for decades, with his father being one of the founders of BJP.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Friday said AAP does not have money and can only spread love, a day after an Election Commission team reached Kapurthala House, his official residence here, to conduct a search over allegation that money was being distributed from there in the poll-bound city. Amid a blame game between the Aam Aadmi Party and the EC, the flying squad returned empty-handed from Kapurthala House at Copernicus Road on Thursday, claiming the doors were locked and no searches could be conducted.

Delhi polls: AAP will cross 60 out of 70 seats again: Kejriwal ahead of Delhi polls
AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Friday expressed confidence that his party will once again secure over 60 out of 70 seats in the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections. Addressing a 'janasabha' in east Delhi's Laxmi Nagar constituency, Kejriwal claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had already conceded defeat.
"BJP has accepted their loss. If every vote goes to 'jhaadu' (broom, AAP's election symbol) against BJP's hooliganism, we will once again cross 60 seats," he said.
AAP had won 62 out of 70 seats in the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections and an unprecedented 67 seats in 2015.
Kejriwal also warned voters that if the BJP came to power, it would discontinue AAP-led government's free welfare schemes, including free electricity, water, and bus rides for women.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing it of stalling Delhi's development while using the national capital's resources for its political gains.
He urged people to elect a "double-engine government" to ensure the city's progress.
Speaking at a public rally in Dwarka, Modi showcased the recently inaugurated Yashobhoomi convention centre, terming it a glimpse of the BJP's vision for a modern Delhi. "The BJP wants to make Delhi modern and a glimpse of that can be seen in Dwarka after the Centre constructed the majestic Yashobhoomi here," he said.
Taking a swipe at AAP, the prime minister alleged that the party has turned Delhi into a "political ATM" to fund its ambitions in other states. "AAP-da (AAP disaster) has looted Delhi's money and is using it to expand its politics elsewhere. They are taking money out of Delhiites' pockets," he said, urging voters to free the city from its rule.
