JNU live updates: Delhi Police take cognizance of social media post in which a poster reading 'Kashmir Azaad' was seen at a college protest

Of these complaints one was from a professor, 3 from ABVP students and 7 from JNUSU and other students. Local police have forwarded the complaints to Delhi Police Crime Branch SIT.

"We have not made any such suggestions," Kumar said, following reports that the varsity administration suggested the Ministry about temporarily shutting the campus following the mob violence on Sunday. "There is no move to do so. Efforts are on to facilitate conducive environment for students," he added.

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi met Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNSU) president Aishe Ghosh here in the varsity campus on Wednesday. However, what transpired in the meeting is not known. On Sunday evening, more than 30 students of the university including JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh were injured and were taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre after a masked mob entered the varsity and attacked them and professors with sticks and rods. According to sources in the Delhi Police, the investigation has revealed that some insiders and some outsiders were involved in the violence.

Claiming that the violence in JNU is a "fabricated incident" cooked up by its Left affiliated students' union, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday said a probe is needed to find out if JNUSU president Aishe Ghosh was really injured or faked it by using paints on her face. Aishe Ghosh, who suffered head injuries in the violence that took place inside the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus on Sunday, was discharged from the AIIMS in New Delhi the next day. "The entire country is losing its mind over the JNU violence. But we have seen reports where it was claimed that the violence was a fabricated incident. It was cooked up by the Left students union," the BJP leader told a press conference here.

The West Bengal unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad on Tuesday demanded a high-level inquiry into Sunday evening's violence at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and said the probe could be held under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Terming the clash "unfortunate", ABVP state president Saptarshi Sarkar alleged that the violence was the handiwork of Leftitst forces who want to destabilise the situation in the JNU. More than 35 students and faculty members were assaulted on Sunday evening after masked men armed with sticks and iron rods went on a rampage inside the campus of the institute. The Left-controlled JNU Students Union and the ABVP are blaming each other for the violence. The Delhi Police is now probing the incident.

The mob violence on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus could not have been possible without the connivance of the varsity administration and deliberate inaction by police, the JNU Teachers' Association alleged on Wednesday. It also slammed Vice-Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar for asking students to put the past behind and return to the varsity premises. "How can students go back to hostels or to classrooms when they do not feel safe? How can teachers go back to teach when they do not feel safe?" the JNUTA said in a statement. It said the command to students and faculty to forget and to accept administrative terror as normalcy "is an insult to injury". A masked mob armed with sticks and rods on Sunday attacked students and teachers and damaged property on the campus, injuring at least 35 people, including JNU Students' Union president Aishe Ghosh.
