Karan Patel: Lesser known facts about the Ye Hai Mohabbatein actor

Born on 23 November 1983 in Kolkata, Karan Patel has come a long way in the industry. As the handsome hunk turns 33 today, we take a look at some interesting lesser known facts about him. His father's name is Rashesh Patel and he is the only son. He belongs to a Gujrati family with business as their profession.

Karan loves having American fast food. When in Delhi, he loves indulging in kebabs and parathas.

Not many are aware that his on-screen father-in-law from the show Ye Hai Mohabbatein is his real-life father-in-law. Abhay Bhargava, who plays the role of Raman's father-in-law in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, is Ankita's father. So while shooting schedules might keep Karan away from his ladylove, his father-in-law will always be around. Recently, his mother-in-law Kiran Bhargava also made an appearance on the show.

Karan Patel does not like being part of romantic projects but is a big Shah Rukh Khan fan. He has revealed that he would love to be a part of a project running on the lines of Shah Rukh's Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. The actor has also been quoted as saying that if ever a biopic on his life was to be made, he would want Ranveer Singh to play his part.

While many think that Karan was in a relationship with his Kasturi co-actor, Amita Chandekar, he revealed in an interview with TOI that she was never his real-life girlfriend. Karan had said, "I'd like to clarify that I don't have a girlfriend. This was something I needed to clear for a long time. It's a misunderstanding that has been allowed to go on for too long. Amita and I were close friends. And we were together for some time, though not as a couple. Our togetherness was mistaken for something else. I'm much relieved to clear this notion."

In order to learn the basics of acting, Karan attended Namit Kapoor's Acting School. He also went to London School of Arts to further polish his acting skills.

The handsome hunk, who has proved his acting skills over the years, is also a good dancer. Karan participated in Nach Baliye 3 and was paired alongside TV actress, Amita Chandekar.

Karan, who would avoid being shirtless earlier, has started forgetting about wearing a tee when he steps out in the open, thanks to his industry colleague and co-actor Aly Goni. If it wans't for his on screen brother, Karan would have not been able to get inspired for a physique like what he has now.
