Foetus in Jabalpur courtroom: Madhya Pradesh high court reserves order on dad’s euthanasia plea
JABALPUR: Days after dramatic scenes unfolded in the courtroom when a man brought the foetus of his unborn child in a plastic bag during a hearing, the Jabalpur bench of the Madhya Pradesh high court on Wednesday reserved its order on his petition seeking security cover or permission for euthanasia.
The petition was filed by former independent candidate from Rewa LS constituency Daya Shankar Pandey, who alleged repeated attempts on his life and inaction by police despite multiple complaints.
The plea came up for hearing before Justice Himanshu Joshi, where Pandey argued his case in person and reiterated that both he and his family members faced serious threats.
After hearing the submissions, the single-judge bench reserved its order on the petition.
Pandey drew attention during the previous hearing on March 9 when he arrived in court carrying the foetus of his unborn child in a plastic bag, claiming that his wife suffered a miscarriage following an alleged attempt on his life.
