Forget quiet luxury for a minute because
Novak Djokovic just showed up at Roland Garros in a jacket that looked straight out of a fashion runway.
Made specially by Lacoste for the tennis star, the custom piece quickly became one of the biggest style talking points of the tournament. And honestly, it’s easy to see why.
The oversized jacket takes direct inspiration from the famous red-orange clay courts of Roland Garros. You know that dusty burnt-orange shade players end up wearing all over their socks and shirts by the end of a match? Lacoste basically turned that entire vibe into a jacket.
The detailing is what really makes it stand out. The fabric and textures were designed to resemble the rough, dusty feel of clay courts, while the silhouette had this dramatic, almost streetwear-like edge to it. It felt sporty, but also very high fashion at the same time.
And then there’s the giant wolf design across the back.
For Djokovic, that symbol means a lot more than just aesthetics. He has spoken before about wolves being his spirit animal and how the connection goes back to his childhood. Instead of making the jacket feel like another generic athlete collaboration, Lacoste used that personal story to give the piece some actual emotion and character.
The jacket was designed by Lacoste creative director Pelagia Kolotouros, who clearly wanted this to feel bigger than just a tournament outfit. Rather than playing it safe with a standard warm-up look, the brand leaned into bold textures, statement visuals and handcrafted details inspired by the Paris clay courts.
The final result looked less like sportswear and more like something you’d expect to see during fashion week.
Djokovic wore the piece while walking onto Court Philippe-Chatrier for his opening-round match at the French Open, which also marked his 22nd main-draw appearance at Roland Garros. So the jacket ended up feeling like a tribute to both his legacy and his long relationship with the tournament.
After the match, Djokovic said he felt “very honored” to wear it, and honestly, the confidence matched the look. He didn’t walk onto court looking like an athlete warming up. He walked in like the main character.
At a tournament usually filled with clean white kits and predictable sportswear, this jacket felt refreshing, dramatic and deeply personal all at once. And for someone who has spent years dominating on clay, the wolf-and-clay combination somehow made perfect sense.
