Natasha Poonawalla flaunts a Rs 128 crore pink diamond ring once owned by 'Last Queen of France' Marie Antoinette
The Indian high society is accustomed to hearing the name of Natasha Poonawalla, as this ultra-luxurious mogul is not just friends with Indian royalty but also has connections and strong relationships with elite families across the globe. She’s the queen of avant-garde couture in India, where her ensembles and accessories speak of legacy, cultural power, and lineage.
Signalling to have a luxurious jewellery collection, we recently came across Natasha Poonawalla’s statement pink diamond ring, which has legendary French roots and is worth around Rs 128 crore. This stunning piece, which is equivalent to almost a Tuscan estate, belonged to the last queen of France, Queen Marie Antoinette.
This particular stone’s journey did not begin in India but in 18th-century France, within the gilded halls of beautiful Versailles. This Marie-Therese Pink Diamond ring features a 10.38-carat purple-pink diamond with a rare modified kite brilliant style. Its extraordinary colour and clarity make it a rare and timeless piece of jewellery.
The gemstone, which was originally carved for Queen Marie Antoinette, was later passed to her daughter Marie-Thérèse d’Angoulême, who was the only surviving child of the ill-fated French monarch. After the family’s tragic death, very few jewels can be traced back to where this rare pink diamond shone bright, and it is not just any other jewellery item but indeed a historical artefact.
Despite its centuries-old origin, this piece of jewellery has been given a modern touch, but the original allure remains bright. The diamond was reset by designer Joel Arthur Rosenthal, aka JAR, who is known for his work with collectors and museums. His design places this pink diamond on a black platinum band, which is punctuated with 17 accent diamonds and intricately framed by round stones that amplify the soft yet commanding shade.
The ring was unveiled at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels sale in New York in June 2025 and was priced between $3 and $5 million. But the hammer fell at $13.98 million, which is around Rs 126–128 crore. This sale makes the ring the most valuable pink diamond ever auctioned, and it highlights the growing influence of Indian collectors on the global level. Natasha Poonawalla flaunted this ring at the iconic Pink Ball hosted at the British Museum by Isha Ambani, where it didn’t just make an appearance but repositioned the aura and value of Indian luxury on a larger scale.
The Indian philanthropist proved that in an era where people are addicted to new jewellery designs, these archival pieces are a reminder of how jewellery’s legacy and roots were created. It also brings a balanced effect of modern authority with ancient cultural fluency.

Seems overdone to us. There be so very many pretty shiny rings. That diamond was toned down from its former brght brilliant setting yet shined nicely. Mewonders if that was an extravagant gift or if she bid, perhaps through another party, on it herself.Read allPost comment
