What are loafers?

Loafers are a type of slip-on shoes that are laceless with a fastener-free design, exposed ankles, and low heels. Many historians trace their roots back to the teser, a traditional laceless shoe worn by Norwegian fishermen and villagers. But other records suggest that these pairs were worn by Native American moccasins and were a popular footwear choice for both men and women. An iconic symbol of preppy fashion during the 1970s, it slowly lost its charm to trainers, chunky sandals, and ultimate stilettos. But it’s time for these iconic strapless loafers to make a comeback with multiple transformations, which are steadily witnessing its rise.

Penny loafers

Penny loafers are a classic choice that are easily identifiable by straps across the vamps featuring a slit that is big enough. These pairs are generally lightweight, have an unisex appeal, and have structured contours and chunky low block heels. Incorporated into a stylish preppy aesthetic, they are mostly seen in black, brown, beige, and cherry mocha shades and can be worn on date nights to office dinners.

Loafer mules

These pairs have adapted to the busy lifestyle of officegoers and combine a slip-on style with a backless mule design. Making the design more breathable and relaxed, you can also wear them off-duty during weekends and pair them with office skirts, pants, casual shorts, dresses, and more. Style them with voluminous bottoms as well and give a subtle front peek-out for a clean look every day.

Chunky sole loafers

A saviour for all the short girlies, these chunky-style loafers are well-balanced and bring out a solid flair element. They are heavy because of the chunky bottom, but instantly inject a hint of boldness, which uplifts any and every look. Add them with your bottoms and skirts for an everyday glam, and look effortlessly magical.

Platform loafers

These are the supersized form of loafers, which come with towering block heels, making you stand out from the crowd. These pairs deliver a big style impact and are super sturdy, making them easy to walk in. Play up the proportions with a timeless dressing, which can create a distinctly modern look, and match its boss-like energy with oversized blazers, iconic skirts, and shorts.

Tassel loafers

If you wish to experiment with embellishments, then add these tassel-embedded loafers to your wardrobe and seek a distinct and polished look. The sophisticated design with an appealing visual interest looks versatile and iconic, giving you rightful style mileage. They are mostly seen in shades of tan and brown, which look great with black and white pieces.
