Phirni

It’s very well said that a good start to a day is done by eating something sweet in the morning. Phirni is a super easy dessert prepared with milk, rice, khoya, and nuts. This sweet delicacy has a rich and creamy texture. Hence, it makes a great option for a Bakrid breakfast. You can make it in the comfort of your home.

  • Soak rice.
  • Heat milk on a saucepan. Let it come to a boil.
  • Add rice to it. Cook it for a while.
  • Add grated khoya followed by sugar.
  • Cook it till the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add cardamom powder and switch off the gas flame once the mixture reduces to a thick kheer.
  • Top with nuts. Enjoy.

Shami Kebab

What better way to start the Bakird morning than having Shami Kebabs? These kebabs are extremely appetizing, and the taste straightaway fills your heart with happiness. Shami Kebabs are prepared with chana dal, mutton pieces, and a lot of spices. Here’s how you can make this delicious kebab recipe.

  • In a pan, add mutton, red chili powder, water, cumin seeds, green cardamom powder, black pepper, chana dal, garlic, cardamom pods, clove, ginger, and salt.
  • Cover the lid and bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Once the meat tenderizes, switch off the gas flame. Grind the mixture.
  • Add mashed boiled egg and garam masala to the paste. Mix well.
  • In a bowl, mix coriander leaves, salt, onions, and green chilies.
  • Prepare kebabs with the mutton paste and fill it with the onion stuffing.
  • Deep fry the balls.

Serve it alongside green chutney. Enjoy.

Talli Kaleji

Talli Kaleji is a simple recipe that has succulent mutton liver pieces coated with a marinade and then further cooked on a pan. If you’re busy with the night feat preparation, Talli Kaleji would be a great option for your breakfast. It’s wholesome and makes a great meal when served alongside hot chappatis.

  • For Talli Kaleji, first, prepare the marinade.
  • In a bowl, add dried red chilies, cumin seeds, turmeric powder. Ginger and garlic paste. Mix well.
  • Add chopped mutton liver pieces and salt to it. Leave it for half an hour.
  • Heat oil on a frying pan.
  • Add marinated mutton pieces.
  • Shallow fry them for 2 mins.
  • Once cooked, drain the extra oil.

The amazing combination of crispy puris with the scrumptious Sooji Halwa is all you need to have this Bakrid. You can make puris easily but the halwa should have a nice thick consistency. Here’s how you can make the perfect Sooji Halwa.

  • Boil water and then add sugar followed by saffron strands.
  • On a pan, heat ghee and roast your favorite dry fruits. Keep it aside.
  • Roast the sooji in ghee till it turns light brown.
  • Add the sugar syrup to it. Mix well.
  • Finally, add condensed milk and roasted nuts.
  • Garnish with cardamom powder.
  • Mix well and Serve it hot.

Keema Paratha

Keema Paratha is a fulfilling breakfast meal for all the hard-core non-vegetarians out there. Instead of aloo or paneer stuffing, this paratha has keema (minced mutton) stuffing. Doesn’t that sound rich and luscious? Two Keema Parathas are more than enough to satiate one’s hunger pangs. So, do incorporate this dish into your Bakrid menu.

  • For making Keema Paratha, knead the dough and keep it aside for 20 mins.
  • Heal oil on a pan and fry onions.
  • Add ginger-garlic paste followed by minced mutton.
  • Fry for 3-4 mins.
  • Add powdered spices like red chili powder, salt, etc.
  • Mix everything well, and add ¾ cup water.
  • Cover the lid and cook till the water dries out.
  • Add lemon juice and fresh coriander in the last.
  • Divide the dough and add the filling to the center of each dough.
  • Bring ends together and form a circle.
  • Roll it in the shape of paratha and cook it.

Your Keema Paratha is ready. Serve it with mint chutney.
