48-year-old actor Daniel Balaji dies due to heart attack: Warning signs of the fatal disease one must know
Tamil actor Daniel Balaji known for movies like Kaakha Kaakha passed away on Friday due to a heart attack. He was 48.
As per reports, Daniel was admitted to the hospital after complaining of severe chest pain. He was admitted to a hospital in Chennai's Kottivakam where he succumbed to heart attack.
A heart attack, or myocardial infarction, occurs when blood flow to a part of the heart muscle is blocked, usually by a blood clot. This blockage deprives the heart tissue of oxygen and nutrients, leading to damage or death of the affected tissue.
Symptoms of a heart attack can vary but commonly include intense chest pain or discomfort that may feel like pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain that extends to the arms (usually the left arm), neck, jaw, or back. Other signs may include shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, lightheadedness, cold sweats, and fatigue. Some individuals, particularly women, may experience atypical symptoms such as abdominal discomfort, indigestion, or unusual fatigue. It's essential to recognize these signs and seek immediate medical attention if suspected. Acting promptly can significantly improve the chances of survival and reduce long-term damage to the heart.
Risk factors for heart attack include underlying heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, previous heart attack, heart failure, and arrhythmias like ventricular fibrillation. Other contributing factors include a family history of heart attack or sudden cardiac death, advanced age, smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels, diabetes, and excessive alcohol consumption.
If someone is suspected of having a heart attack, take immediate action. Call emergency services. Help the person sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Loosen tight clothing and reassure them. If they have prescribed medication like aspirin, assist them in taking it unless they're allergic.Monitor their vital signs and be prepared to administer CPR if they become unresponsive. Do not leave them alone until medical help arrives. Provide a calm and supportive environment while waiting for professional assistance. Quick response can significantly improve their chances of survival and recovery.
Heart attacks in young adults, though relatively rare, can occur due to various factors. Lifestyle choices like poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption can increase the risk. Additionally, genetic predispositions, underlying health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, or high cholesterol, and illicit drug use can contribute. Recognizing symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea, and fatigue is crucial for prompt medical intervention. Preventive measures include maintaining a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise, balanced diet, avoiding smoking, limiting alcohol, managing stress, and attending routine medical check-ups to detect and manage any underlying health issues.
Fans and followers of the actor are pouring tributes. Daniel Balaji's career had begun as a unit production manager in Kamal Haasan's unfinished project 'Marudhunayagam'. After this, he moved to TV with Radikaa Sarathkumar's 'Chithhi', where his character was named Daniel; this is where he earned the screen name, Daniel Balaji.
