What is the Enneagram?

The Enneagram is a personality typology to help understand and describe different personality types and their underlying motivations, fears, desires, and behaviors. It consists of nine distinct personality types, each with its own distinct characteristics and tendencies. The Enneagram doesn't just label individuals into one specific category; it also provides insights into their growth paths and areas of development. Here is what your Enneagram type reveals about your parenting style:

2/10

Type One: The Perfectionist

Parents under type one tend to focus a lot on discipline, rules and doing things ‘right’. As parents, type ones can be quite strict and the children may be afraid of them. However, they always want their children to have the best things in life and achieve success.

3/10

Type Two: The Helper

Unlike type one, type two may excessively spoil their children. They always want to be seen as the ‘nice’ or ‘cool’ parent, and may end up being soft even when they need to be stern and strict. It is important to not spoil your children, as it will hurt them in the long run.

4/10

Type Three: The Achiever

Parents with this personality type tend to focus a lot on their children’s achievements in life – such as their grades, medals, certificates and package size, car brand etc. as they grow up. It is important to love your children unconditionally, whether they score well in exams or not.

5/10

Type Four: The Individualist

Parents with this personality type focus on embracing one’s unique selves and this is what they teach their children. They support their kids to carve their own path and question things before following herd mentality.

6/10

Type Five: The Investigator

These modern-style parents always have the latest tools for raising kids. They usually have a more independent and reserved parenting style. It is encouraged to embrace the joy of living in the present with your child and fostering meaningful connections.

7/10

Type Six: The Loyalist

Parents of this personality type express their love by focusing on the safety and security of their children. They are prepared for all kinds of situations and emergencies, whether dealing with an infant or teenager.

8/10

Type Seven: The Enthusiast

These parents are super pumped and enthusiastic about their children and their job as parents. They are the cheerleaders in their child’s life and are always up for doing something fun together.

9/10

Type Eight: The Challenger

These parents are always there to protect their child. However, they need to stay balanced and also empower the kids to learn how to protect themselves as they grow up. You will always find them advocating for their children’s rights.

10/10

Type Nine: The Peacemaker

These parents are not a big fan of drama and often let the seemingly less harmful things slide, without making a big deal out of them. They prefer peace over anything else – for their children as well as for themselves.
