Reasons our toddler cried this week: This viral social media post is every parent’s reality
Parenting a toddler often involves dealing with strong emotions in a very small package. In a toddler's development, there comes a point when he still doesn’t know how to process his emotions. Even seemingly trivial incidents may result in a lot of crying from a toddler. These emotions, while confusing to the adult world, are actually just another form of communication for a toddler.
A video on Instagram caption by the name “Reasons Our Toddler Cried This Week” is trending for all the best reasons. It highlights the many ways through which toddlers get sad over small issues that may seem rather funny.
For instance, from not being able to decide whether to take one of the eleven pink tops she owns to the wish to wear her pink sweater despite the high temperatures, it is evident that toddlers have mood swings in everything they do. Being asked not to clean her toys using a toilet brush and the prohibition against using soapy water to clean the TV were also sources of tantrums.
Additionally, there were other occasions when the toddler had issues with foods such as crying over being deceived into taking medication, being told not to throw food off the balcony, and being told she cannot eat face cream.
Some of the reasons were quite surprisingly crying over daddy’s new hairstyle or mommy saying ‘Ouch!’ after landing on her tummy. Sometimes even attempts by the dad to take a picture served as a valid cause for tears.
Reactions from fans
The post immediately attracted the attention of many and, consequently, generated numerous amusing comments. Someone commented that it was “literally how my child reacts every single day!” Others found the list “painfully relatable” and “too true.” Some even praised the author for posting the list, admitting that they were not the only parents dealing with such situations.
For example, “the pink sweater one was personal because we fight this battle every day!”
Moreover, a significant number of people admitted that they had experienced similar situations with their children crying about something as silly as a broken banana or the “wrong” glass.
