What began as a late-night chat on Snapchat almost ended in tragedy in Rajasthan’s Bhiwadi area.
A teenage girl, who had been talking to a boy online for months, quietly left her house and decided to walk all the way to Madhya Pradesh to meet him. No bus. No train. Just faith, hope, and a long road ahead.
It didn’t take long for things to go wrong.
After walking barely eight kilometres in the scorching heat, she collapsed by the roadside. Exhausted. Dehydrated. Unable to move.
People passing by noticed her lying there and panicked. Someone called the police. Within minutes, officers were on the spot and rushed her to the nearest hospital.
Later, the story came out.
She had been chatting with a boy named Ritesh from Dewas district for nearly a year and a half. They had never met in person. Not even once. But somewhere along the way, messages turned into feelings. And feelings turned into a plan.
So she told her family she was stepping out to buy something from a nearby shop.
And then she just… kept walking.
No food in her bag. Hardly any water. No protection from the sun. Just a teenager chasing a dream she’d built on a phone screen.
A few hours later, her body gave up.
Doctors said her condition was serious and shifted her to Alwar district hospital. Any more delay, they warned, could have cost her life.
Her family has now been informed. The police are speaking to her, trying to understand what pushed her to take such a dangerous step.
And honestly, it’s a reminder.
Online bonds can feel real. Very real. But the world outside the screen doesn’t work the same way.
For now, the girl is stable. Doctors are keeping a close watch on her health - both physical and mental - while the investigation continues.
