Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian diaspora at a community event in The Hague amid loud cheers and enthusiastic celebrations. Speaking at the event, PM Modi said the warmth and energy of the gathering made him feel as though he was attending a festival in India. Recalling the 2014 Lok Sabha election results announced on May 16, he said a stable majority government was formed in India after decades and credited the trust of crores of Indians for motivating him continuously. Modi also highlighted India’s high voter participation, especially among women, during recent Assembly elections. Referring to global challenges such as the pandemic, wars and the ongoing energy crisis, he said India and the Netherlands were working together on future-ready supply chains, energy security and water security, while also stressing the importance of the proposed India-EU FTA.
