A pretty interesting behind-the-scenes story has surfaced about Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin - and it comes from someone who actually knew about their relationship way before the public did.
On a recent episode of TV Chosun’s Huh Young Man’s Food Travel, golf instructor Lim Jin-han, who’s well-known in Korea and often called a “golf master,” shared how closely he’s been connected to Son Ye-jin for years. He said their first meeting happened through an agency executive, and she started taking lessons from him shortly after.
He recalled a pretty casual first session, saying she once showed up right from a filming set wearing jeans and slippers, and they still managed to practice for about an hour. From there, the lessons continued and they stayed in touch over time.
Later on, Hyun Bin also started learning golf from him after Son personally recommended him. According to Lim, the couple would often attend lessons together and even join him for rounds on the course - which is when he quietly figured out they were more than just co-stars.
At one point, Son even asked him directly to teach Hyun Bin as well, and that’s when the duo started training together more regularly.
Even though he was fully aware they were dating, Lim admitted he kept it completely under wraps. In fact, he even misled his own wife about it. He laughed while recalling how she once asked if the two actors were planning to get married, and he casually brushed it off like he had no idea. Then, just about three weeks later, their wedding announcement dropped - and his wife jokingly called him a “traitor” for not telling her.
He also shared a bit about their dynamic, saying they actually balance each other well. According to him, Son Ye-jin has a more relaxed, easygoing vibe, while Hyun Bin is quieter and more reserved.
He added a small but sweet detail about how their relationship evolved too - saying that while they used to call each other by name like “Bin” and “Ye-jin” when they were dating, after marriage it naturally shifted to more affectionate terms like “honey” or “dear.”
The two stars first crossed paths on the 2018 film The Negotiation, later reunited in the massive hit drama Crash Landing on You in 2019, which sparked dating rumours that followed them for a long time.
They eventually confirmed their relationship in 2021, got married in March 2022, and welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in December that same year.
