Live: Commonwealth Games 2018: India won three more gold on Day 5

Brace up folks. The mouth-watering Badminton final is just half an hour away. Another gold medal, maybe? Well, your guess is as good as ours.

So, on an eventful fifth day, India have pocketed FIVE medals - one golds, two silvers and two bronze. And we haven't even reached the tip of the icerberg yet. The big one is yet to come, where the Indian mixed badminton team takes on Malaysia for another GOLD at stake. Do NOT, and we mean. Do NOT leave this space. We have plenty more lined up for you.

Not the best of starts for Lalchhanhimi. Began well with a snatch lift of 85kgs, but fails in her next two attempts to lift 89. Meanwhile, another women's weightlifting category is underway. In the +90kg event, Purnima Pandey has secured snatch lifts worth 85, 89 and 94 kg. With many vying for heavier weights, a podium finish seems unlikely for her.

Incredible scenes at the Belmont Shooting Centre. It all culminatged with a shootoff between Ghosh and Veloso for the GOLD medal after finishing at a score of 247.2 each. GOOSEBUMPS. And then, it was up to the final effort, where Mehuli fell just .4 points lower than Veloso. But what a way to arrive, Mehuli. Well done!

Just In: Manish Kaushik successful in his round of 16 bout against T&T's Alexander, wins 4-0 with the third round ending in a 28-28 verdict.

And that's another GOLD. Jitu Rai takes the top honours in the men's 10m air pistol with a score of 235.1, which is Commonwealth Games record. India's other medal contender, Om Mitharval, claims BRONZE.

What a clinical performance this has been from India's premier shooter. After the second round, Jitu secured the top spot in the eliminations, and he never slipped from there, till the time he became India's 8th GOLD medal at CWG 2018.

The qualification mark was set at 2.27 but since no jumper attempted more than 2.21 in both qualifying groups, Shankar made it through

After Jitu Rai and Om Mitharval, Apurvi Chandela and Mehuli Ghosh have qualifed for the women's 10m air rifle final. Chandela's score of 423.2 is a CWG record.

The Moment...

A combined total of 352 kg (152 kg in snatch and 200 kg in clean and jerk). Pardeep went for broke, a lift of 211 kgs, 2 more than his failed attempt of 209. For a moment, it seemed as if he almost had it. but just couldn't get the jerk part right. However, a silver it is, which means it's India's 13th CWG 2018 medal and 9th in weightlifting. CONGRATULATIONS!

Meanwhile, in the women's air rifle qualification event...

Hima had won a gold medal in the 400m race of the Federation Cup in February. She had clocked 51.97 seconds - under the 52-second qualifying standard set by the Athletics Federation of India.

Alright then! Hima Das has qualified for the women's 400 meter finals after finishing third in Heat 5. More excellent news.

India's Srihari Nataraj fails to qualify for the men's 200m backstroke final. He finishing seventh in his heat with a timing of 2:04.75.

Sathiyan Gnasekaran and Harmeet Desai prevail in third match of the men's TT semis against Xue Jie Pang and Shao Feng Ethan Poh. They win 8-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-8

WEIGHTLIFTING: And that is a succesful lift. Pardeep Singh succeeds in his final snatch attempt of 152 kgs. Great comeback!

And with that, Pardeep has finished second only to Sanele Mao's 154-kg lift and has given himself a strong chance of securing a podium finish.

Some great news coming in from the Belmont Shooting Centre. Om Mitharval and Jitu Rai have qualified for the men's 10m air pistol final in emphatic fashion.

This man has three Commonwealth Games gold and four silver medals. Besides that, Gao possesses 11 gold medals in South-East Asian Games. WOAH! What about that... Well, in short, the man is a legend.

That ain't all. After the women TT team's historic gold yesterday, it's up to the men to follow suit. They take on Singapore in the semifinals.
