Since then, the pressure has only increased on the Bangladeshi batters. Wanindu Hasaranga has looked particularly threatening, having taken two wickets and could have had a third if a bail had fallen despite the lights turning on. With skipper Litton Das now back in the dugout, Bangladesh need a miracle to post a respectable total. They are in a desperate situation. With that, Shamim Hossain walks in next to bat.

It gets lobbed up, toward the left of the keeper, and Kusal Mendis does the rest with a simple grab. A huge appeal for caught behind now, but the umpire stays unmoved. The Lankans think they have got their man, and this is sent upstairs for a review. Now, the question is whether the ball clipped the left glove of the batter. And even before the technology comes up, Litton Das starts to march back. Finally, the UltraEdge is here and shows a clear spike and the on-field decision is overturned.
