Woakes offered plenty of width on a 130kph length ball, and Rahul made the most of it - staying back, waiting for it, and opening the bat face late to steer it neatly through the gully region for four.

After his heartfelt gesture during the third Test at Lord’s, India pacer Mohammed Siraj has revealed the emotional story behind his tribute to late footballer Diogo Jota.

In a video shared by the BCCI from inside the dressing room, Siraj said he was deeply affected upon learning of Jota’s tragic passing. “In the last match when we were arriving, I got to know that Diogo Jota passed away in a car accident. I’m a fan of Portugal because Cristiano Ronaldo plays for that team. I felt very emotional after hearing the news,” Siraj said.

The 30-year-old fast bowler reflected on the fragility of life and how the news left him shaken. “Life is very unpredictable. We fight so hard for things, but we do not even know what tomorrow holds. There is no guarantee in life. It was very shocking.”

Siraj dedicated one of his wickets to Jota, mimicking a heartfelt gesture during his celebration. “Today, I got wickets, so I wanted to make that gesture for him. It was my way of showing respect,” he added.

On the first day, 83 overs were bowled by India in the third Test. On the second day, it dropped to 75 overs across both teams. The teams are required to bowl 90 overs in a single day. The weather isn't helping. And Michael Vaughan believes slapping fines on players, captains and teams isn't the solution either. The ex-England skipper thinks they're all well paid that such small fines won't deter them. He has a solution.

Cheteshwar Pujara will become the first active men's Indian international cricketer to ring the five-minute bell at Lord's today. We say men's because that box had been ticked by the women's cricketer Deepti Sharma in 2021. We had seen another Indian ring the bell just this Test as well when Sachin Tendulkar conducted the ceremony on the opening day

India trail by 242 runs with seven wickets in hand. If they can bat through the first two sessions on Day 3, they could take a small but important lead.

Lord’s has often been a tricky place for touring teams, but Bumrah’s effort with the ball and Rahul’s solid knock have brought India right back into the contest.

With batting still left, this could be India’s best chance to push for a lead.

England need to strike early on Day 3. The partnership between Rahul and Pant is building steadily, and if they are not separated soon, India will move ahead in the match.

Woakes and Archer will likely start the day’s proceedings, and with the weather expected to be dry, the ball could do a bit in the morning.

Root and Stokes will hope their pacers can deliver one strong burst.

With his elegant cover drives and calm footwork, KL Rahul looked composed in the middle.

He is batting on 53 not out and looks set for a big score. If he can bat through the morning session, India will be in a strong position to match or even surpass England’s total.

Rahul’s presence will give India belief on a pitch that is still offering something for the bowlers.

The pitch at Lord’s has settled a bit but is still offering occasional movement, especially under cloud cover.

Batting is not impossible, but run-scoring needs patience. Rahul showed how to go about it. If the sun stays out and the ball softens, India could find it easier to score on Day 3.

The surface could also start assisting spinners by the end of the day, making every run valuable.

Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes bowled well on Day 2 and will be key to England’s hopes on Day 3.

With the new Dukes ball still relatively fresh, the first hour will be crucial. England need early wickets to prevent India from running away with the match.

Root’s century and the lower-order fightback gave England a decent score. Now the bowlers must step up again to restore balance.

Bumrah was the standout performer on Day 2 with a five-wicket haul that left England’s batting unit in disarray.

His ability to use the Lord’s slope and target the stumps was on full display. After bowling England out for 387, the momentum has shifted slightly in India’s favour.

The job is now in the hands of the batters. If India can avoid early wickets, they could take full control on Day 3.

With Rahul and Pant at the crease and all-rounders like Nitish Reddy and Jadeja still to come, India will hope for contributions from the lower half of the batting order.

England’s pace attack will be fresh and aggressive on the third morning, but if India’s batters can dig in and extend their innings, a first innings lead is not out of reach.

A gritty session in the morning could set the tone for the rest of the day.

Rishabh Pant returned to bat despite not taking the field on Day 2 after being struck on the finger.

Coming in at 85 for 3, he looked positive and confident, ending the day unbeaten on 19. His ability to counter-attack will be key on Day 3 as India look to build towards England’s total.

With the match delicately poised, Pant’s shot-making and Rahul’s stability could be the perfect combination to tilt the balance in India’s favour.
