India vs South Africa 3rd Test Day 3, Highlights: Bumrah gets Elgar; South Africa 101/2 at stumps

That's it! Tea on Day 3. Marco Jansen picks up the final India wicket in form of Jasorit Bumrah. India 198 all out in the second innings. Virat Kohli and co. set a fighting 212 run target against South Africa, which they have to chase in the fourth innings.. India lost 6 wickets after lunch but the highlight of the session was Rishabh Pant's maiden century against South Africa. When all the India batters struggled against the fiery Proteas attack, Pant has played a majestic knock, slamming his fourth Test ton. India have posted a good target on the board and it will now be up to the bowlers to deliver.

India's last pair of Rishabh Pant (100*) and Jasprit Bumrah (0*) is in the middle so the session has been extended by the umpires. IND 195/9 after 67 overs, lead by 208 runs

A masterful ton from the India wicket-keeper. Rishabh Pant gets to his fourth Test ton off 133 balls, his first against South Africa. What a knock this has been from Pant. All the negative talks about him before going into this Test and Rishabh has responded superbly to his critics with a sensational century. He also has put India in a strong position it this Test with this second innings. India now lead South Africa by 208 runs and they have got to bat last in this Test. It will now be interesting to see how many more can Pant add to India's lead with just Jasprit Bumrah remaining.

India are now 9 down as Marco Jansen removes Mohammed Shami for a 10-ball duck. Shami goes for a wild hoick on the last ball of the over and Rassie van der Dussen takes a good catch in the slips. Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 94 at the other end! Will he get to his first ton against South Africa?

So near yet so far for South Africa! Over-cooked delivery wide outside off from Kagiso Rabada and Rishabh Pant tries to slice it over point but mistimes horribly. The ball shoots straight up. Keshav Majaraj runs in from the deep-point fence, gets both his hands to the ball but eventually spills. A terrific effort from Maharaj but Pant gets a lifeline on 89.

Kagiso Rabada returns into the attack and is in action straightaway. India are now 8 down! Quick delivery outside off from Rabada and Umesh Yadav pokes at it. Edges it straight to the keeper. A 10-ball duck for Umesh. Rishabh Pant is still unbeaten on 87 at the other end! Will he get to his first century against South Africa? IND 180/8, lead by 193 runs

What a shot from Rishabh Pant! Over-cooked outside off from Duanne Olivier and Pant flat-bats it just over the cow-corner fence for a maximum. Pant moved into the 80's with that clean strike! IND 176/7 after 57.5 overs, lead by 189 runs

Lungi Ngidi has been sensational after the Lunch break. Picks up his third wicket. Full and outside off and Shardul edges it straight to the keeper. Goes for the expansive drive but misses it. Shardul departs for 5. IND 170/7 after 56.1 overs, lead by 183 runs

A boundary straightaway after the drinks break for Shardul Thakur. Short and wide outside off from Duanne Olivier and Thakur slaps it to the deep backward point fence. Shardul opens his account with a cracking boundary. IND 169/6 after 55.1 overs

Rishabh Pant has been absolutely superb so far and he continues to impress in this second innings. Anything fuller in length and Pant he has given the bowler the deserved respect but on the shorter deliveries, he has been absolutely ruthless on either side of the wicket. Lungi Ngidi gets his second wicket. A loose shot from R Ashwin outside off as he chases a wide delivery. Marco Jansen completes an easy catch at gully. Ashwin walks back for 7. India are now 6 down! IND 162/6 after 52.3 overs, lead by 175 runs

Short and wide outside off from Lungi Ngidi and R Ashwin flashes hard at the ball. Thick-ish outside edge and the ball files to second slip. Aiden Markram produces a superb attempt but is not able to hold on to the catch. IND 158/5 after 50.5 overs, lead by 171 runs

Finally a breakthrough for South Africa. Lungi Ngidi ends 94-run partnership between Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli. A sigh of relief for the Proteas. Kohli was leaving the deliveries outside off so well until now. He chases a wide one this time and skipper Dean Elgar makes no mistake, takes a sharp catch at first slip. Kohli walks back after scoring a resilient 29 off 143 balls. IND 152/5, lead by 165 runs

Rishabh Pant starts off Keshav Maharaj's new over with back-to-back sixes down town. Pant has decided to take on the Proteas spinner now. A couple of lusty blows and looks like Pant is stepping on the accelerator. IND 148/4 after 47.2 overs, lead by 161 runs

Rishabh Pant and Virat Kohli continue to impress post Lunch. Both have been pretty disciplined so far against Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi. South Africa should be really worried now as this partnership has risen to 78 off 119 balls. IND 142/4 in second innings

Rishabh Pant (51*) and Virat Kohli (28*) resume India's second innings after Lunch on Day 3. Keshav Maharaj has the ball in hand for South Africa. Here we go! IND 130/4 after 43 overs, lead by 143 runs

Rishabh Pant scored a crucial half-century while skipper Virat Kohli was resolute in his defence as they took India to 130 for four at lunch after early morning blows on the third day of the series-deciding third Test. Pant was unbeaten on 51 off 60 balls while Kohli (28 batting off 127 balls) added only 14 runs to his overnight score of 14 as India's overall lead now stands at 143. This was after Cheteshwar Pujara (9) and Ajinkya Rahane (1) were dismissed cheaply in the first half an hour. However, the early setbacks didn't deter Pant from playing his natural game as he hit four boundaries and a six while adding 72 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket stand with his skipper, who showed remarkable composure in playing second fiddle to Pant, who went for the jugular as and when situation permitted. Pant, who had received flak for his poor shot selection under pressure during the second Test, respected the good deliveries but wasn't shy of treating the bad ones with disdain. He was aggressive without being reckless, fearless without being careless. A case in point was lofting left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj for a six over long-on in the penultimate over of the session, signalling his positive intent. The best shot however was a square cut on the rise off Kagiso Rabada. A smashing cover drive off Marco Jansen was equally good. However, it was another failure for Rahane and Pujara, who might well have played their last Tests for India. Pujara was again cramped for room on the leg side and the tickle of his bat was brilliantly taken by Keegan Petersen at leg slip, diving to his right and snapping it up inches ahead of the ground. In case of Rahane, Rabada bowled a terrific one which kicked from length and took his gloves and Dean Elgar at first slip caught it after keeper Kyle Verreynne had managed to tip it up with his gloves
