India vs West Indies 2nd ODI Highlights: Shai Hope, Keacy Carty shine as West Indies beat India by 6 wickets

The batting audition of India's World Cup aspirants did not go as planned on a bouncy track at the Kensington Oval. Hosts West Indies levelled the three-match series 1-1 with a convincing six-wicket victory over India in the second ODI on Saturday. The match was highlighted by superb bowling performances from Romario Shepherd and Gudakesh Motie, while the Indian middle-order struggled to cope with the pace, bounce, and turn, leading to a lacklustre total of 181 in 40.5 overs on a rain-marred day.

Skipper Shai Hope led from the front with an unbeaten half-century as West Indies defeated India by six wickets in the second ODI and brought the three-match series on an even keel on Saturday. Hope (63 not out; 80 balls) found a fine ally in Keacy Carty (48 not out; 65b) as the duo put together 91 runs (118b) for the fifth wicket to steady their 182-run chase. WI reached the target with 80 balls to spare.

Hope hit just one six and two fours to reach the landmark.

Shardul Thakur came back into the attack and bowled a tidy one, just two singles off it. India took a review for caught behind against Shai Hope (46*) off the last delivery but lost it. West Indies need 45 more to win the game.

A couple of twos in the last two deliveries and West Indies collected five runs off Ravindra Jadeja. The hosts now need 60 more to win the match.

Shardul Thakur kept India in the contest with his wicket-taking ability, dismissing Athanaze with a short pitched delivery. A short delivery outside off, Athanaze was in no position to play the pull shot and got a thick top-edge. Ishan Kishan went back to complete the catch. It's not over yet.

Mayers went for another flick shot, but this time gloved it towards short fine leg. Umran Malik took a simple catch asn Shardul Thakur provided India their first breakthrough of the game. Mayers hit two sixes and four fours during his 28-ball cameo.

King completed 1000 runs in 33rd ODI with the two fours.

Axar Patel, stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya, and Sanju Samson all got out for single digit scores. Romario Shepherd (3/37) and Gudakesh Motie (3/36) were the pick of the Windies bowling, while Alzarri Joseph bagged 2/35.

OUT! Third wicket for spinner Gudakesh Motie (3 for 36 in 9.5 overs), dismissed Mukesh Kumar (6) to wrap up Indian innings for a meagre 181 in the 41st over.
