India vice-captain Shubman Gill has added another big brand to his already strong portfolio as the youngster will now sport an MRF sticker on his bat from the Champions Trophy semi-final game against Australia. When he walks out to bat, Gill will be joining an elite list of endorsers that also includes Virat Kohli and has a strong legacy.
It is understood that the formalities are completed and brings to end a long association the right-hander had with CEAT who signed him during his India U-19 days.
Gill's brand game is bustling as the 25-year-old has deals in place with Nike, Mercedes, Dior, Coca Cola, Beats by Dre, Tata Capital, Bajaj Allianz, Casio and My11Circle. The deal with Apple, for their product Beats, was a first in the ecosystem as Gill became the first sportsperson from India to be their ambassador last year.
Already associated with many premium brands, Gill's stocks are riding a bull run at the moment as even the advertisers have earmarked him as the face to invest in for the future.
The interest has only gone up since the right-hander was elevated to vice-captaincy in the series vs Sri Lanka last year and remained Rohit Sharma's deputy for the ongoing Champions Trophy.
The aggressive interest from various brands comes at a time when his bat is breathing fire in the 50-over format. He has already hit a hundred in the Champions Trophy and looked dominant in the ODIs vs England, which preceded the multi-nation tournament.
The new MRF deal makes him a part of the thriving legacy for the tyre manufacturer with Kohli currently in the list and the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Steve Waugh, AB de Villiers, and Shikhar Dhawan sporting the red logo on their bat in the past.

Captain Steve Smith and Alex Carey struck fifties to guide Australia to 264 all out in the Champions Trophy semifinal on Tuesday.
Smith top-scored with 73 off 96 balls as he stitched two crucial partnerships, first with Travis Head (39) for the second wicket, which yielded 50 runs, and then with Marnus Labuschagne (29) for the third for another 56 runs.
After the departure of Smith in the 37th over, Carey (61) took charge to take Australia past 260.
For India, Mohammed Shami (3/38) grabbed three wickets while Varun Chakravarthy and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets apiece. Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel got one each.
The Indian players took the field wearing black armbands in honour of domestic cricket legend Padmakar Shivalkar, who died in Mumbai on Monday due to age-related illness. He was 84.
As the match heads into the final 10 overs, Australia will be hoping that Carey can guide them to a respectable total, while India will look to wrap up the innings quickly and restrict the visitors to a manageable score. The battle between bat and ball continues, and the next phase of the game promises to be just as intriguing.
