Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his record-breaking run in IPL 2026, scripting history with the most sixes hit by an Indian in a single innings during
Rajasthan Royals’ clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The 15-year-old prodigy smashed 12 sixes during his breathtaking 103 off just 37 balls, setting a new benchmark for Indian batters in the tournament. In doing so, Sooryavanshi went past the previous record of 11 sixes jointly held by Murali Vijay and himself, having earlier hit 11 in a knock against Gujarat Titans in 2025. The innings also placed him ahead of notable performances from Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma, all of whom have struck 10 sixes in an IPL innings.
Sooryavanshi’s innings was the driving force behind Rajasthan Royals’ imposing total of 228 for 6. After Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to bowl first, he set the tone immediately by taking on Praful Hinge in the opening over, smashing four consecutive sixes in a fiery start that signalled his intent.
Despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal early, Sooryavanshi found strong support from Dhruv Jurel, and the pair stitched together a crucial 112-run stand for the second wicket. Jurel’s composed 51 off 35 balls complemented Sooryavanshi’s aggression, allowing Rajasthan to maintain a relentless scoring rate.
The youngster brought up his half-century in just 15 balls during the powerplay and continued to dominate the bowling attack with fearless strokeplay. He reached his second IPL hundred in just 36 balls, peppering the boundary with five fours and 12 towering sixes before being dismissed for 103.
Late contributions from Donovan Ferreira ensured Rajasthan crossed the 200-run mark comfortably, finishing on 228 for 6 in their 20 overs.
