Formula E champion Oliver Rowland takes over daddy duties after podium at Jeddah doubleheader

Oliver Rowland is making the most of his month-long break following his podium at the Jeddah doubleheader. The Season 11 Formula E World Champion is spending quality time with his family, and his wife, Lauren Rowland, has shared proof on Instagram. The Rowlands welcomed a baby boy in November last year, and Rowland is currently busy with daddy duties. He also has a four-year-old daughter, Harper, who recently tried her hand at riding a pedal bike.

After Jeddah podium, Oliver Rowland shifts focus to family time

Oliver Rowland’s wife, Lauren Rowland, took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday to share two pictures of the driver with their two kids. One picture shows Rowland sitting at a restaurant with his three-month-old son, Hennie, on his lap, while the other shows his daughter Harper playing pedal.
A day earlier, Rowland had shared a glimpse of his wife Lauren going for a run in the park.

Oliver Rowland reflects on returning to the podium for the third time this season

Oliver Rowland is looking strong in his Formula E title defense. He is currently third in the Drivers’ Standings, behind Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein and Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara. Rowland has collected 49 points so far with three podium finishes. He finished second in Sao Paulo, third in Mexico City, and third again in the Round 5 race in Jeddah.

The 33-year-old felt relieved to return to the podium after missing out in the previous two races in Miami and Round 4 in Jeddah. Expressing his relief after his third podium of the season in Jeddah, he said, “Yesterday I was pulling my hair out! The last two races I struggled quite a lot, I just had no pace. Last night we changed quite a lot of stuff, so I’m really pleased to be back on the podium. Thanks to my whole team, they stayed late last night and did a great job.”

He added, “I just wanted to stay out of trouble. From third or fourth backward, it’s quite dangerous with people coming around the outside, and honestly I could go slow at some points so I could control the pace and be comfortable with my target. Of course Antonio (Felix da Costa, the Round 5 winner) had a slight advantage and I wouldn’t have beaten him today. I think with a slightly different strategy on my side with Attack Mode, I could have finished second, but anyway I’m still happy with third.”

He will now return to the track for the Madrid E-Prix on March 21.
