KOLKATA: It was a bad day for the seeds at the LG-Goodricke Eastern India Amateur golf tournament on Monday with most of them failing to proceed beyond the second round.
The biggest casualty of the day was top seed Akshay Butta, who could not live upto expectations and bowed out of the tournament.
Second seed and the leader on the LG Order of Merit list, Gagan Verma, however, continued to march ahead, despite the seeds tumbling around him.
1x1 polls
Gagan defeated Divyanshu Bajaj by 4&2.
He finished runner-up in the event last year and would be looking to go one better this time.
In another upset, Abhinav Lohan lost out to Jasjeet Singh, who won the tie one up. He will be up against Moin Malak. Malak registered a comfortable win against the higher ranked Manav Das.
