Did Colby Covington cross the line with Bo Nickal? A personal rivalry is now brewing in the UFC

In recent weeks, Bo Nickal became embroiled in a heated storyline in the MMA community after his angry response to public disreputable comments made by Colby Covington. Bo Nickal attended the RAF05 event in support as a spectator and was quickly thrust into the public eye due to the high level of negativity associated with his appearance. What started as public provocation soon turned into personal confrontation after Bo Nickal found himself at the center of an escalating rivalry that appears to be destined for UFC Prominence.

Bo Nickal responds forcefully to Colby Covington's criticism

In the aftermath of the fallout, Bo Nickal publicly addressed the situation regarding the comments made about him by Colby Covington and Luke Rockhold following the RAF05 press conference. Nickal stated that not only did he feel as though Covington's and Rockhold's comments were inappropriate as a personal attack on him, but they were also disrespectful to the entire wrestling community.

Bo Nickal was adamant that wrestling had served as the foundation of the success of both Covington and Rockhold and that it was an insult to disparage the competitors who worked hard to build their careers off of wrestling, thus eroding the competitive integrity of the sport as a whole.

The situation became more intense when Bo Nickal claimed that both Colby Covington and Luke Rockhold turned down the opportunity to compete with him at RAF05. Although Covington ended up defeating Rockhold in a dominating fashion, Bo Nickal emphasized that the outcome of the matchup did not justify the disrespectful comments made about him.

Bo Nickal characterized Covington and Rockhold's comments as unnecessary, stating that they could have settled the matter during the fight rather than resorting to a verbal exchange.

Bo Nickal pushes for a Colby Covington fight inside the UFC

After a highlight-reel knockout victory at UFC 322, Bo Nickal thinks it is the right time to set up a potentially huge fight. This win allowed Bo Nickal's first professional loss to become a bounce-back performance, thus allowing him to regain momentum with regard to his UFC career. He feels the fight represents that he is now ready to face an established fighter in a true test.

Bo Nickal has publicly targeted Colby Covington as his number one opponent. He believes that a fight in June is going to be a great opportunity for both fighters because of all that is happening with the UFC and the fact that Covington may want to attempt to move up in weight class and fight in the middleweight division. Bo Nickal stated that he looks to talk directly to Dana White to make this fight a reality.

This rivalry also has a bit of a political angle, as both fighters have openly supported Donald Trump. Bo Nickal expresses doubt that Colby Covington is truly supporting Trump, believing that Covington simply uses it as a bait tactic. With both fighters' career paths heading in diverging directions, a UFC matchup now seems to be inevitable and could be a fight that will define the careers of these two fighters.
