A historic event for international professional boxing, this will be the first professional boxing event held on Salvadoran soil. The match is part of an event called “Legacy Night,” which will take place on September 20 at the Gimnasio Nacional José Adolfo Pineda in the capital. The card is being hosted by Toro Promotions Inc. and will feature Kingsley Ibeh vs Gerald Washington in a heavyweight battle for the vacant WBC FECARBOX Heavyweight Championship as the main event.
This is an important event for El Salvador in its ambition to be recognized as a venue for boxing and combat sports. In conjunction with the country’s boxing federation, International Boxing & MMA Consultants, Inc. will serve as the national athletic commission to ensure the event meets world-class standards.
Kingsley Ibeh enters in top form, while Gerald Washington brings experience
Nigerian-born heavyweight Kingsley Ibeh (15-2-1, 13 KOs), based in Arizona, is on a five-fight winning streak. He has won ten straight overall, five of them by knockout, making him one of the division's rising contenders. This could be the biggest opportunity of his career to make an international statement.
Opposite him, Gerald Washington (21-6-1, 14 KOs) is a seasoned veteran. The 43-year-old has shared the ring with many elite names, including Deontay Wilder, Derek Chisora, and Jarrell Miller.
While Robert Helenius may not be a top contender, Washington’s win over him remains a highlight of his career. The presence of such a veteran lends added weight to this main event. Ibeh will face an experienced opponent in a ten-round bout, a real test for him.

Alongside rising prospects like the Bonilla twins and Nilo Guerrero on the undercard, it promises to be a full night of action for fans.
The tournament is part of a larger effort by the El Salvador government and sports bodies to promote the country in international boxing. Local officials, under the auspices of the World Boxing Council, are hopeful this show will act as a springboard for more international events in the country. If successful, El Salvador could become an exciting new destination for major boxing promotions.
