Winter Olympics 2026: Lindsey Vonn’s influential tips for young athletes, a message every future Olympian should read
Lindsey Vonn recently qualified for the Winter Olympics, and she shares a message for the young athletes. Lindsey is one of the best alpine skiers of all time. Lindsey Caroline Vonn is an American World Cup alpine ski racer. She won four World Cup overall championships. At the age of 41, she secured a spot for her fifth Winter Olympics.
This message is particularly for the young athletes, who are under pressure from the media, coaches, and social networks. She says in high-performance sport, external noise can make you unsure of yourself, leading the individual to self-doubt. Vonn encourages young athletes to focus on what they can control, like mindset and personal goals.
“Just keep believing in yourself. I think that often, people will say you can't do something or that you're not good enough, but you have to believe in yourself. And even if you fall, that's OK. That's life. We all fall. Just get back up and keep climbing."
Aspiring Olympians are pushed to create internal confidence built in preparation, self-discipline, and not just outward validation.
For young athletes, there’s a learning that setbacks and negative comments are not hurdles but a way to learn how to be resilient and dedicated towards their goals. And criticism should never be the reason to stop trying to progress.
Lindsey Vonn, recently shared a note via her official Instagram handle on Tuesday, where she wrote she had officially qualified to represent the United States during the Milan Cortina Games.
"I am honored to be able to represent my country one more time, in my 5th and final Olympics!"
Vonn wrote.
"When I decided to return to ski racing, I always had one eye on Cortina because it's a place that is very, very special to me. Although I can't guarantee any outcomes, I can guarantee that I will give my absolute best every time I kick out of the starting gate. No matter how these games end up, I feel like I've already won.
"I am grateful for how the season has gone so far, but I am just getting started."
Lindsey Vonn is the only American woman to have ever taken home a gold medal in the Olympic downhill. Vonn has qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics, just a year after she retired, to resume her historic ski racing career.
