During those ten years, he was regarded as a trustworthy infielder who could play as a shortstop, second baseman, and third baseman.


Tejada had a nine-season MLB career, during which he recorded over 2,300 plate appearances and played for the Mets, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, and Baltimore Orioles. After his major league career, he played professionally in other leagues, such as winter ball and independent leagues, among others.

In 2021, Tejada played briefly on a minor league contract again with the Philadelphia Phillies organization.
