Giannis Antetokounmpo was officially named a starter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, marking his 10th consecutive selection and start. That streak stands as the longest active run in the league. After the game, he reflected on a conversation from his rookie season that stayed with him.
"If I probably told myself when I was young, that’d be 10 times All-Star, I probably would not believe it," Antetokounmpo said.
He recalled meeting with former Bucks executives John Hammond and Dave Morway, who challenged him to think bigger early in his career."I kind of took that and installed it in my heart. I never said it publicly, but one of my goals as a player was to be a 10-time All-Star, and I’m very happy that I accomplished it."This season, Antetokounmpo has appeared in 28 games, averaging 28.5 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.5 assists while shooting a career-best 64.5 percent from the field. He finished second in total All-Star voting behind Luka Dončić, earning 3.2 million votes.
