Christian Wood has accused his former girlfriend, Yasmine Lopez, of being connected to a break-in at his rented home in Sherman Oaks, California. Wood believes the incident was not random and says it is tied to their ongoing custody dispute over their two-year-old son, Kobe.
The situation has moved quickly from a police investigation to a family court battle. A judge has granted Wood temporary sole custody of their son and issued a restraining order. Lopez has denied all allegations and says she had no role in the incident.
What Happened at Christian Wood's House
On November 5, 2025, around 12:30 p.m., a Domino’s pizza driver arrived at Christian Wood’s Airbnb-style rental. Wood did not answer because he had not ordered food. Minutes later, three masked individuals broke into the home by smashing a rear sliding glass door.
Wood says he grabbed a firearm and fired three shots, which caused the intruders to run back to a vehicle and leave. No one was hurt, and nothing was taken from the house. Police later confirmed that a pizza order had been placed to Wood’s address and that someone called the restaurant to ask about the delivery. Investigators were unable to identify who made the order or the call.
Christian Wood’s Claims in Court and Why He Suspects Yasmine Lopez
Wood claims the break-in was planned and meant to harm him. He says tensions with Yasmine Lopez had increased just a day earlier.
According to Wood, Lopez refused visitation without explanation and picked up their son from school even though he was available.
He also pointed to a social media post Lopez shared about an hour before the break-in. The post included a violent King Von song, gun emojis, and lyrics about retaliation killings. Wood described the timing as concerning.
In court filings, Wood included alleged text messages from Lopez in which she reportedly wished him dead, said she would tell their son he was gone, and hoped he would get shot. He argued these messages showed a pattern of threats and hostility.
Yasmine Lopez’s Response to Wood Accusing Her
Yasmine Lopez has said she had nothing to do with the break-in and only learned about it afterward. In Instagram stories, she described herself as the primary caregiver and accused Wood of acting out after losing a separate child support case involving another ex, reportedly worth $25,000 per month.
She also claimed Wood has conflicts with multiple mothers of his children and sought her own protection order. Lopez alleged that Wood once grabbed her leg forcefully during a custody exchange.
Wood and Lopez's Background and Career Context
Wood and Lopez dated from August to December 2022 while he was with the Dallas Mavericks. Wood has also referenced an alleged August 2023 break-in and car vandalism at his property, which he previously linked to Lopez. He says threats from a member of her family happened before the November incident.
Wood, a former Los Angeles Lakers player, was released in February 2025 after knee surgery and is currently a free agent. As his NBA future remains uncertain, he is now dealing with a serious legal fight off the court.
