LeBron James is unstoppable. History added another line to James’s resume, and he treated it with quiet perspective. The Los Angeles Lakers star recently became the NBA’s all-time leader in regular-season games played, stepping on the floor for his 1,612th appearance against the Orlando Magic. The milestone pushed him past Robert Parish, a record that stood untouched for decades.
The moment arrived during his 23rd season, a stage where most careers have long ended. Instead of slowing down, James continues to produce and lead a team chasing postseason success.

LeBron James is 41, and he is still chasing NBA records. Addressed the record in a candid way, James explained that milestones like this were never part of a checklist.
"It’s not like I’m like writing things down and looking at the record book and saying: ‘I’m going to get that, I’m going to get that, I’m going to get that.’ It just kind of happened. It was not on the list of things that I wanted to accomplish," James shared.
His goals, he explained, were always centered on impact and achievement at the highest level.
"I wanted to be the best player in this league at some point. I wanted to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest, to ever play this game.
I wanted to be an NBA champion. I wanted to possibly win rookie of the year, make All-Star appearances, win a gold medal, win some MVPs, those were some of my goals. But some of the stuff that’s just been happening over the course of the last few years has been super-duper cool," the Lakers veteran added.
That outlook reflects a career shaped by consistency and longevity. From scoring records to appearances, his achievements have grown steadily over time. The record for games played now joins a long list that continues to expand.
Will LeBron James play another season?
Questions about what comes next have followed James throughout the season. At 41, his future remains a point of discussion across the league. For now, his priority is competing and helping the Lakers maintain momentum in the Western Conference.
Reports indicate that any major decision could come after the season, following a pattern he has maintained in past career moves. James has often taken time before announcing changes, allowing space between the final game and the next chapter. As of now, however, it is unclear if the NBA veteran will continue with another season or stay with the Lakers.
