VADODARA: Stylish middle-order batsman VVS Laxman was forced to keep off the field on the second day of the Irani Cup match against Delhi owing to food poisoning.
India's physical and mental conditioning coach Paddy Upton said Laxman was down with running stomach since Wednesday but if needed would bat for team on Friday.
"He has a running stomach and that's why he did not field on Thursday," Upton said.

"It was worse in the morning but things look better now. The frequency has come down, even though it has left him weak. But if he has to bat on Friday, Laxman would play," Upton added.
Ashok Dinda fielded for Laxman in the morning session, while Pragyan Ojha came for him subsequently.
