As the Buffalo Bills get ready for their AFC Divisional Round matchup against the Denver Broncos on January 17, the focus is naturally on
Josh Allen and what it will take to win on the road. But as the week has unfolded, a lighter storyline has also caught fans’ attention, one that mixes football, timing, and a resurfaced moment from long before Allen ever wore a Bills jersey.
Josh Allen’s wife,
Hailee Steinfeld, has become a familiar presence around the team since the two began dating. She has supported Buffalo publicly and consistently, especially during the playoffs. Still, an old social media post from 2016 has made the rounds again, reminding fans that her football loyalties were once very different. With Buffalo heading to Denver, the timing could not be more interesting.
An old Broncos moment resurfaces as Bills face Denver
The post dates back nearly a decade to Super Bowl XXXII, when the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers 24-10. Steinfeld shared a photo from the stands that night, wearing orange and celebrating as the Broncos celebrated on the field. Her caption made her excitement clear at the time. “HELL YEAH BRONCOS!!!! 💥@starterofficial #SUPERBOWL.”
That old tweet has drawn attention this week, especially since Steinfeld did not attend the Bills’ Wild Card win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on January 11. The reason was simple and public.
She was at the Golden Globes that same night, where she appeared as a presenter.
Since beginning her relationship with Allen in May 2023, Steinfeld has been closely tied to the Bills. The couple married in May last year and announced in December that they are expecting their first child. Since then, Steinfeld has been seen regularly at Buffalo games, making it hard to imagine any real split in loyalty now.
Her earlier connection to Denver has never been fully explained. Steinfeld was born and raised in California, but fans often choose teams for personal reasons, players they admired, or memorable moments. Peyton Manning’s years with the Broncos could easily have played a role back then.
A similar situation played out last season with Taylor Swift, who grew up as a Philadelphia Eagles fan but openly supported Travis Kelce and the Chiefs when Kansas City faced Philadelphia in Super Bowl LIX. Most fans expect Steinfeld to do the same and fully back her husband and the Bills.
On the field, Allen has his hands full. He led Buffalo to a 27-24 win over Jacksonville in the Wild Card round, finishing 28 of 35 for 273 yards and three total touchdowns. Now he faces Denver again, this time as a No. 6 seed on the road against a No. 1 seed that earned a bye.
Denver brings a tough defense, while Buffalo counters with one of the league’s best rushing attacks. Protecting Allen will be key. He took 40 sacks during the regular season, though he was only brought down once against Jacksonville. When Allen addressed his injuries on January 12, he made it clear he feels ready.
