Josh Allen is known across the NFL for his rocket arm and fearless style of play. However, off the field, the Buffalo Bills quarterback is proving to be just as powerful when it comes to giving back. His generosity has reached millions of dollars, directed toward cancer research and programs supporting children with special needs. This offseason, Allen found a creative new way to keep that mission going, stepping into a unique role that combines football, fashion, and philanthropy.
Josh Allen’s new role with Billustration
Allen was officially named Director of Billustration, a new initiative launched in partnership with New Era. More than just a title, it made him the first brand ambassador to receive an investment stake in the company’s community-focused deal.
Throughout the NFL season, Allen will unveil nine custom New Era hats, each one designed by patients at Buffalo’s Oishei Children’s Hospital. He plans to wear one before every Bills home game, then auction it off to raise money for the Patricia Allen Fund.
The debut came in Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens with a design by a five-year-old patient named Jaxson. Fans can bid on these game-worn, signed hats starting at kickoff, with every dollar going directly to support Buffalo families.
A quarterback leading on and off the field
Over the years, he has donated millions of dollars to causes close to his heart, including cancer research and organizations dedicated to kids with special needs. Much of this work is tied to the Patricia Allen Fund, named after his late grandmother.
The fund’s creation is one of the most remarkable stories in sports philanthropy. After Patricia Allen passed away on November 8, 2020, just before the Bills’ win against Seattle, the Bills Mafia started making donations to Oishei Children’s Hospital in $17 increments, representing Josh’s jersey number. What began as a grassroots tribute exploded into a movement, raising over $1 million by the end of that year. Donations came from all 50 states and 10 countries, creating national headlines and more than half a billion media impressions.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was among the first to share news of the Billustration project, and fans immediately embraced it, praising Allen for his creativity and heart.
For Allen, these efforts are about more than football. Whether it’s designing a hat, raising money, or lending his time, he continues to use his platform to change lives.
