NFL Trade Rumors: Kansas City Chiefs linked to former $60 Million All-Pro amid growing speculation over receiver room

Kansas City Chiefs could emerge as the leading destination for free-agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs, according to growing speculation around the league. While no formal negotiations have been reported, the idea has gained traction as Kansas City looks to maximize Patrick Mahomes' championship window. Diggs remains unsigned despite posting another productive season in 2025, and any potential deal would likely come at a reduced cost compared to his previous contracts, making him a realistic option for contenders seeking veteran receiving help. Multiple clubs need a proven veteran receiver, but Kansas City is the most obvious fit from a need and opportunity standpoint. The Chiefs enter the 2026 season with questions at wide receiver, even with one of the top quarterbacks in the league. The rumblings got louder when fantasy football analyst Peter Overzet pointed to Kansas City as the most likely landing spot for Diggs’ possible destinations. Overzet noted that Diggs’ 2025 output may be flying under the radar a bit too much. The veteran receiver averaged 11.5 PPR points per game, crossed the 1,000-yard mark and was near the top of the league in yards per target. The analyst also brought up social media activity with Mahomes and Diggs, but there's nothing concrete connecting the two sides outside of public speculation. If Diggs is a free agent, then any potential move would be centered on contract talks, not trade compensation. If the club wants a short-term deal, his age and market conditions could help Kansas City. The Chiefs have dealt with cap issues in the past and could structure a deal with incentives, roster bonuses or void years to lessen the immediate financial impact.
