Sam Darnold’s Seattle Seahawks defeated
Matthew Stafford’s Los Angeles Rams in a tough 31-27 NFC Championship game. The more we say this, the less real it feels. Even the quarterback could not believe it. When Darnold reached the sideline where his fiancée Katie Hoofnagle waited, he said, “It doesn’t feel real.” She pushed on his chest and proudly said, “Hey! You did that!”
Even in that moment of happiness, Darnold replied, “We did that!” His fiancée kept repeating, “You did that!” But he insisted, this time with loud enthusiasm, “We did that!” Katie paused, then with a glint in her eyes, echoed, “We did that!” Purest form of love. Purest form of appreciation!
Sam Darnold exclaims “fire” after giving his ladylove NFC Championship winner cap to wear
A few moments before their heartwarming conversation, Darnold told her, “Love you,” and Katie replied, “Love you more!” This “more” looks like it adds extra flavor to “love you” but holds many little love channels no one can measure.
The field general gave her the NFC Championship cap to wear, saying, “Here you go!” She wore it proudly and looked at him with beaming eyes for a compliment. He quietly uttered, “Fire!” Modern slang for awesome or cool.
These little love notes on the NFL sideline mean so much to the player and their beloved counterparts. We can never fully express it for them.
Katie shared six snapshots on Instagram from their postgame moment and captioned it: “WE’RE NOT DONE YET!!!”
Heartfelt birthday post
In July 2025, Sam and Katie shared ten snapshots from their special Instagram engagement announcement. Katie called it: “YES!!!!!”
Their adorable love story began in June 2023, when she shared a heartfelt birthday post for the Seahawks star: “your huge heart, goofy energy, and ability to quote every movie you’ve ever seen are unmatched.
happy 26th birthday, celebrating you is so easy! [white heart emoji].”
