“Until the wheels fall off”: Stefon Diggs shuts down retirement talk as Patriots star focuses on Super Bowl moment and future in New England
Stefon Diggs is entering the upcoming Super Bowl with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement as the Patriots are set to face off against the Seahawks. Stepping foot into a Super Bowl match for the first time in his career, Diggs made it clear his focus is nowhere near the end. During Super Bowl opening night in San Jose, Diggs found himself answering a question that caught him off guard.
When asked if he planned to come back next year, no matter what, Diggs initially thought the interviewer was referring to returning to the Super Bowl. Once it became clear that the question was about his NFL future, the wide receiver seemed miffed and reminded the interviewer that he is under contract and that better research must be done before asking questions.
Diggs is under a three-year, $63.5 million deal with $22.6 million guaranteed, signed after a challenging stretch that included injury and a turbulent exit from Houston. The contract also includes flexibility in 2026 and 2027, but his first season in Foxborough gave the Patriots no reason to rethink their investment.
Diggs led New England in the regular season with 102 targets and 1,013 receiving yards, becoming a reliable outlet for rookie quarterback Drake Maye. In the postseason, he has continued to deliver. Across three playoff games, the wide receiver caught 11 of 17 targets for 73 yards and a touchdown, helping guide the Patriots to a 3–0 run and a Super Bowl berth.
Now, with a chance to go 4–0 on the biggest stage, Diggs is focused on winning, not walking away. Retirement talk seems out of the question as he has the passion, and his contract runs through 2027. As he made clear about his intentions under the bright Super Bowl lights, his chapter is far from over.

Diggs’ response reflects confidence, contract clarity, and love for the game
The mood shifted when he was asked how long he actually wants to keep playing. That answer came easily for Diggs as he replied, “Honestly, I’m going to rock it until the wheels fall off. Football is my passion. I love to do it, you know I’m saying. I love to be around a group of guys that I have right now.”Diggs is under a three-year, $63.5 million deal with $22.6 million guaranteed, signed after a challenging stretch that included injury and a turbulent exit from Houston.
