The captain of the team scored his first goal and produced his first multi-point game of the playoffs, which led the club to score its first power-play goal of the post-season.

According to reports, following their defensive lapse, the Oilers trail 2-1 in their best-of-seven first-round series against the Ducks, who won the team’s first home playoff game in eight years at the Honda Center. The Oilers fell 7-4 in Game 3 on Friday night, facing mounting pressure on the team.

The Oilers showed attacking intent throughout, with contributions from Vasily Podkolzin, Kasperi Kapanen, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, but their defensive lapses proved decisive.



Speaking on the same, Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch stated, “We didn’t give up very much in the second game. I thought we defended well. Tonight, not so much. Just give them freebies, just not digging in front of the net, giving up odd-man rushes.”

Meanwhile, Mattias Ekholm added to the loss, "There’s a lot of hockey left to be played. The momentum shifts, the swings, we’ve all been through it in here, so lean on that, take a deep breath knowing that the sun’s going to come up tomorrow, and we’ve got a big game coming up in Game 4. We know what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to execute at a higher level, and we haven’t brought close to our best yet.”

Apart from this, the Oilers also received multi-point efforts from Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard, but their inability to contain Anaheim’s game and repeated turnovers in the defensive zone left them exposed.

Through three games, Edmonton’s potent offensive line has been evident as Vasily Podkolzin, Kasperi Kapanen, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins found the net, while Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard chipped in with two assists each, yet their defensive inconsistencies and inability to work on crucial moments during the match have allowed Anaheim to take control of the game.

As the Ducks are reining in goals in consecutive games, underlining a worrying trend for the Oilers. This indicates that the Edmonton will need a far more disciplined and structured defensive performance if they are to level the series and regain momentum.
