NHL Injury Update: St. Louis Blues to face massive setback as forward Pius Suter to remain away for four weeks
St. Louis Blues forward Pius Suter is expected to miss approximately four weeks of action after suffering a right ankle injury against the Nashville Predators on Saturday. This was announced by the St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong on Monday. With the exit, the Blues will probably face a massive setback until they plan his return.
He stated that the forward Suter will be re-evaluated in these four weeks of his absence from the team. As per reports, Suter signed with the Blues on July 3 after spending the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. After playing in his sixth NHL season, Suter has made stops with the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Canucks, and Blues.
St. Louis Blues Pius Suter is expected to remain away for four weeks due to an ankle injury. As per reports, the forward sustained an injury during the third period of the game against Nashville on December 27. The player has appeared in 37 games for the Blues this season, recording 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) and 12 penalty minutes. Overall, the Swiss-born player has played in 401 career NHL regular-season games, totaling 176 points (89 goals, 87 assists) and 88 penalty minutes.
Announcing the same on Twitter, the Blues said, “Pius Suter will be sidelined approximately four weeks after sustaining a right-ankle injury Saturday vs. Nashville.” With Suter sidelined, the Blues will now move forward with Robert Thomas, Brayden Schenn, Dalibor Dvorsky, and Oskar Sundqvist down the middle.
It is to be noted that Suter signed a two-year contract with an average annual value of $4.125 million to join the Blues in free agency. He has 7 goals, 7 assists, and 14 points in 37 games played.
The Swiss center has had previous stints with Chicago, Detroit, and Vancouver, and in 401 career regular-season appearances, he’s compiled 89 goals and 87 assists for 176 points. He also added 3 points in 13 games in his lone Stanley Cup Playoff appearance with the 2023-24 Canucks.
Besides, the Blues have only won three of their past five contest, and they will next host the Buffalo Sabres on Monday night with more games on deck against Colorado, Vegas, and Montreal to close out the week.
