Vegas Golden Knights place Jonas Rondbjerg on IR after lower-body injury in last game
The Vegas Golden Knights continue to deal with key roster concerns as injuries pile up at an unfortunate time of the season. Forward Jonas Rondbjerg is the latest name added to the list, creating more uncertainty for a team already trying to regain momentum.
Rondbjerg’s injury came during Vegas’ latest matchup against the Anaheim Ducks, and the situation escalated quickly after he was unable to finish the game. With the Winter Olympics break approaching, the timing makes the setback even more significant for both the player and the club.
Rondbjerg went down late in the second period after taking a hit from Anaheim Ducks captain Radko Gudas while carrying the puck down the left side. The contact appeared to send his leg into the end boards, and Rondbjerg was slow to get up. He left the game and did not return for the third period of Vegas’ 4-3 loss to Anaheim.
By placing Rondbjerg on IR, Vegas confirmed he will miss at least the next stretch, including upcoming games against the Vancouver Canucks and Los Angeles Kings, before the schedule pauses for the Olympic break.
Rondbjerg had recently been recalled from the Henderson Silver Knights, where he recorded 23 points in 36 AHL games, and was beginning to earn trust in a depth role with the NHL club. The injury also clouds his Olympic hopes, as Rondbjerg was previously named among Denmark’s early selections for the upcoming Winter Games.
